Are you turning 30 soon? Or have you just began the journey into your 30’s?
Wherever you are on your journey, I have accumulated the Top 5 Tips For Achieving Success in Your 20’s, and beyond! And, also what I have learned along the way.
The big 30
Turning 30 can be daunting. Leaving your 20’s behind and wondering where all of the time has gone to. I turned 30 last month. But, it doesn’t have to be scary.
Your 30’s are a whole new chapter of your life, where you can take everything you have learned from your 20’s, and apply it.
I had all of the “Oh, it’s all downhill from here” comments made to me, but also had some people say your 30’s are the best years of your life. It is definitely what you make of it.
I have compiled 5 tips on for achieving success in your 20’s.
1. Finding the right career
When we are young, and in school, so much pressure is put on us to decide what our dream job will be, and to plan out the rest of our lives. This works for some people, but not for everyone.
For me personally, I am a creative person with so many interests, that I could never pinpoint exactly what I wanted to do in my career, and that’s okay.
In your 20’s, you are still learning who you are as a person, and the directions you want to take in your life. It’s okay to try different careers paths out, until you find the right one.
I understand this may not be easy for everyone, as you may have a family to provide for and bills to pay. But don’t feel ashamed for wanting to find out where you belong, and taking the time to find out what is right for you.
Sometimes, we think one certain path will be the right one for us to take. But that isn’t always the case.
Taking some time to try things, and figuring out what will make you happy is sometimes the best way. When you find the right thing, you will know, and you can then strive for success.
2. Save, save & save!
We all want to have fun in our 20’s. It’s the time in our lives with very little commitments and we want to experience life to the fullest.
Of course you can have fun, life is for living after all and creating experiences.
But one thing you may want to think about, is saving.
Having some funds to fall back on in your time of need, if you are saving towards your own place, or a new car can be very rewarding, and may help you out in your time of need.
The amount can vary down to how much you can afford to save. But this has helped me massively as I look to by my own house and new cars, etc. It can allow you the opportunities to take the next step in your life.
Just something to think about, as life can be very unpredictable and it is good to be prepared.
3. Don’t be afraid to make mistakes
We all make mistakes, especially in our 20’s.
We are learning who we are as a person, what we want, what we like and don’t like, and this can often lead to us making mistakes.
These can be bad mistakes, and some not so bad.
One of the biggest ways of us learning through life, is by making mistakes, and figuring out how to deal with those situations. Which often makes us wiser on how to navigate them again in the future.
We are all human after all, and we cannot always end up doing the right thing. No one is perfect, and we don’t know the answers to everything. The important thing is learning from these mistakes, and applying this going forward.
4. Get to know who you are
One thing that I took from my 20’s, was taking time to get to know myself.
You grow up a lot in 10 years, and I can honestly say I changed a lot of as a person and learned what I want from life, and what I liked and disliked.
Don’t be afraid to take the time to get to know you. Find out your likes, dislikes and what makes you happy. That can put you in good stead as you get to your later 20’s, and help you to be as happy and successful as possible.
5. Have fun!
At the end of the day, your 20’s and life in general are for living, and having fun, and that’s what you should do!
Being mindful of the above is important, but ensuring you make plans and have fun is also super important too!
Travelling, hobbies, holidays, gigs, events and treating yourself to that thing you have had your eye on for a while are all important, and worthwhile things. All work and no play so no fun! Go enjoy yourself.
In conclusion, being mindful and doing everything in balance is, in my opinion is the best way to go. Your mindset will probably change a lot within those 20 years, so having plans in place is always useful.
Also, turning 30 isn’t scary at all! Here is to the next decade of learning and growing as a person.
